In the NCAA Division I era, which began in 1973, Harvard Crimson teams have won five NCAA Division I championships as of 2024: [[Harvard Crimson men's ice hockey|men's ice hockey]] in 1989, women's lacrosse in 1990, women's rowing in 2003, and men's fencing in 2006 and 2024. Including the pre-NCAA era, Harvard has won 159 national championships across all sports. Its [[Harvard Crimson men's squash|men's squash team]] holds the record for the most national collegiate championships in the sport.
